Mahouts give a demonstration of how asian elephants are used for logging and other heavy work to tourists visiting the Pattaya Elephant Village, Pattaya, Thailand. The village was opened in 1973 as a sanctuary for former working elephants that can no longer be used for extended heavy work due to injury or ill health. A popular tourist attraction, fee's paid by tourists support the upkeep of the elephants.
