The distinctive yellow wing tip of an ultralight aircraft stretches toward the horizon where vast sandbanks emerge from receding tides at the entrance to Bassin d'Arcachon. This remarkable coastal formation, shaped by some of Europe's strongest tidal currents, creates a constantly evolving maze of channels and sandbars where recreational boaters must carefully navigate waters that can drop from 20 meters to completely dry in just six hours when the basin loses two-thirds of its water volume during spring tides.
