A solitary cyclist traverses the exposed shoreline between massive concrete bunkers whose surfaces have been transformed by decades of algal growth since their construction during the German occupation. These remnants of Hitler's Atlantic Wall—initially comprising over 200 fortified structures along this stretch of French coastline alone—now serve as unintentional monuments to coastal dynamism, where twice-daily tidal shifts of up to four meters alternately expose and submerge these historic structures while gradually redistributing an estimated 600,000 cubic meters of sand annually across this constantly evolving shoreline.
