In Floyd, Virginia, two members of the local bluegrass band "Barbershop Grass" tune up in a decades-old barbershop, its walls adorned with memorabilia and certificates. The man on the left strums an acoustic guitar while seated in a vintage barber chair, as his companion plays a mandolin from a simpler seat. Each Friday, this space transforms from a place of haircuts to an impromptu rehearsal studio before the musicians make their way next door to perform at the country store's weekly jamboree. The barbershop becomes their green room, where they find their harmony before sharing it with the community—a ritual that exemplifies how music remains deeply woven into the cultural fabric of Appalachia.
