A dive boat breaks the surface of Panama's azure Caribbean waters during the search for Henry Morgan's lost ships. Led by Fritz Hanselmann of Texas State University, this expedition initially sought evidence of the five vessels that sank on Lajas Reef during Morgan's 1671 raid. The team employed modern magnetic anomaly detection equipment to scan the seafloor, leading to unexpected discoveries that would provide new insights into colonial maritime history beyond Morgan's infamous privateering activities.
