Devotees prepare to immerse an elaborately decorated idol of Lord Ganesha into the tranquil waters of a lake in the Nilgiri Mountains of India. This ritual, known as Ganesh Visarjan, marks the culmination of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. Adorned with flowers, palm fronds, and ceremonial offerings, the elephant-headed deity—revered as the remover of obstacles and harbinger of wisdom and prosperity—is carried by faithful participants to its aquatic farewell. The immersion symbolizes Ganesha's return to Mount Kailash to join his divine parents, while also representing the eternal cycle of creation and dissolution in Hindu cosmology, reminding devotees that all material existence must eventually return to its elemental form.
