A panoramic view of Morro Rock and the Duke Energy power plant previously owned by Pacific Gas and Electric Company located in Morro Bay, California. The power plant operates on Natural Gas and may be torn down to make way for a combined cycle plant. Morro Rock is a 176 meter high volcanic plug and stands at the entrance to the harbor and a causeway that connects it with the shore. The rock is a reserve for the locally endangered peregrine falcon. Morro Rock is one in a series of similar plugs that stretch in a line inland called the Nine Sisters.
