Celestial arcs sweep across the night sky above the weathered stone walls of Castillo San Lorenzo, creating ethereal light trails that mirror the passage of time at this pivotal historical site. The ancient Spanish fortress, silhouetted against the twilight sky, stood as the Caribbean guardian of Spain's treasure route until it fell to Captain Henry Morgan's privateers in January 1671. Just offshore from these walls, Morgan's flagship Satisfaction violently struck Lajas Reef during this ambitious raid, eventually leading to the sacking of Panama City that would weaken Spain's colonial dominance and reshape New World power dynamics.
